Age Groups & Start Times
For safety reasons, start times are arranged by age division from oldest to youngest.
It’s important that children start with their age division.
The swim portion of the event will take place at the Aquatics Center at ClubSport San Jose. ClubSport San Jose offers two indoor swimming pools; the lap pool is 25 yards long and heated to approximately 82°, and the lesson pool is 20 yards long and heated to approximately 89°.
One length of the pool is considered as one lap. Athletes ages 13-15 must complete 150 yards in the lap pool (six laps), ages 10-12 must complete 100 yards in the lap pool (four laps), age 9 must complete 50 yards in the lap pool (two laps), and ages 7-8 must complete 40 yards in the lesson pool (two laps). Lifeguards will be on duty throughout the race. Wetsuits are not allowed, but kickboards will be available for use if needed. Each wave will have two swimmers per lane.
Athlete's Ages 4-6
Athletes ages 4-6 will complete 20 yards in the lesson pool (one lap). Only one swimming parent will be allowed in the pool with each participant — there will be ample volunteers to assist the swimmers. Limited parent access is for the safety of the participants.
Upon completion of the swim portion, athletes will exit the pool and walk to the transition area to find their bike.
The bike course will start behind the Sportsplex building.
Athletes will exit the transition area onto the course designated for the bike portion. Ages 4-6 will complete 0.6 miles (one loop), ages 7-9 will complete two miles (five loops), ages 10-12 will complete three miles (eight loops), and ages 13-15 will complete four miles (10 loops). Athletes will complete the bike portion of the race by returning to the back of the building, where they will park their bike in the transition area.
Athletes are required to wear helmets at all times, including while walking their bikes through the transition area. Training wheels will be allowed. Race numbers must be placed on the athlete’s bike and on the front of their clothing. Parents should let their child know to slow down when they approach the turnaround point so the monitors can mark their wristband.
The run course will start behind the Sportsplex building.
Ages 4-6 will complete 0.5 miles (one loop), ages 7-9 will complete one mile (two loops), and ages 10-12 will complete two miles (four loops).
Parents should let their child know to slow down when they approach the turnaround point so the monitors can mark their wristband.
Space is limited to 350 participants. All payments through Active are final. There are NO refunds or transfers to future events.
Please arrive at the race site on August 13 at least 20 minutes before your child’s set start time. This should allow plenty of time to set up your child’s equipment in the transition area and to get body marked (optional).
AGE DIVISION START TIMES
