Tennis
ClubSport’s tennis center lets you play, practice, and compete year-round with no worries about the weather. Our world-class tennis center features ten indoor courts, four outdoor lighted courts, an experienced tennis staff, and a full menu of instructional, competitive, and social tennis programs for players of all ages and abilities.
Court Reservations
Court time reservations are complimentary and available only to Tennis members. Fitness members may pay a guest fee and use the tennis courts on a walk-on basis only. Court time is available during regular club hours. Reservations are based on availability.
Reservations (up to 1.5 hours for singles and 2 hours for doubles) may be made at the Tennis Desk in Players Pro Shop up to five days in advance. The Tennis Desk begins taking court reservation telephone calls at 7:30am. In-person reservations will be taken as of 8:00am. Please provide the name and membership number of each player when reserving a court. Member may play on one reserved court per day, but may also play on leagues, or on available walk-on courts.
Checking In/Court Cancels
All players must check in at the Tennis Desk to receive a court assignment. No-shows will be subject to a cancellation fee. If you must cancel your reservation we request a 4-hour cancellation notice prior to your scheduled court time to avoid a $15 cancellation fee. Court reservations will be held 10 minutes past the reservation time. If players do not check in, the court will be opened up to walk-on players.
Tennis Guests
Tennis guests are welcome at ClubSport once per month. When you bring a guest to play, please ensure that your guest checks in and completes a guest registration card at the Front Desk to receive a tennis guest card prior to proceeding to the Tennis Desk.

Programs
Tennis 101
Tennis 101 is a 12-week adult tennis program designed for beginners or individuals returning to tennis after a long absence. Tennis 101 consists of weekly one-hour classes. Lessons focus on key fundamentals including proper grip, swing, speed, balance and vision; as well as volleys, forehand and backhand strokes, serves and footwork.
Member: $49, Guest: $79
Tennis 200
Tennis 200 is for graduates of Tennis 101 and adults with a 2.0 - 2.5 NTRP rating. Practice your new tennis skills and enjoy playing at a regularly scheduled day and time with different players.
Social Events
A variety of fun social activities take place during the year including our Friday night and Sunday afternoon mixers. Check the newsletter or bulletin board for more information.
Tournaments
ClubSport Green Valley is proud to host four USTA sanctioned events each year. Junior tournaments are held in March, May and November. Adult competitions take place in April and August. In addition, we have a Club Championships Tournament for members every February.
Drop-in Clinics
Men’s and Women’s Drop-in Clinics are available on Friday’s. Fast-paced drills will keep you moving. Clinics are open to members and guests.
Leagues
League play is available through In-House, Nevada Tennis Assoc. (NTA), and National (USA) leagues.
In-House Leagues
These quarterly leagues are only available to tennis members, and are played on indoor courts. Players receive a schedule at the beginning of the league and new balls are provided each week before play. In order to keep games on track players should find an alternate player in the event that he/she can not play on a scheduled day. League play is $14 per session.
Local Leagues
The NTA offers adult leagues in the spring, summer, and fall. These are doubles leagues with teams from 2.5 to 4.0 play level. Deadline for sign-up is usually three weeks before the season starts. Those interested in participating should register at the Tennis Desk in Players Pro Shop and check the Upcoming Events for registration dates.
National Leagues
USA league play takes place from March through May or early June. The USA Senior League play starts in mid-January. Teams can reserve practice times during the season.
Lessons
Instruction is available for players at all ages and levels, in both private and group settings. Private lessons are scheduled directly with your Tennis Pro. Registration for group instructional programs takes place at the Tennis Desk in the Players Pro Shop.
Junior Tennis Academy
Our Junior Program is very successful and continues to grow. From beginners to nationally ranked juniors, there is a place in the Academy for children of all ages. The Academy operates monthly from September through May. Students are encouraged to attend twice per week, although a once per week option is available. Space is limited, and continuing students receive priority registration. Programs include:
- Pee Wee Tennis: Classes that will help introduce your youngster to the game of tennis, develop their skills and prepare them for the next level of play.
- Beginner and Advanced Beginner: As beginners gain proficiency in basic skills, they are moved to more advanced circuits within the class. Skills are practiced and tested monthly in order to track progress.
- Tournament Team: Players are grouped by a combination of age, ability and competitive goals. This is for the dedicated junior tournament player.
- Junior Tennis Camp: During summer vacation we offer a weekly morning tennis camp with extended care options that include swimming and lunch.
Tennis Staff
Our staff of Tennis Professionals is second to none. All are USPTA certified and have over ten years of teaching and coaching experience. All have played at the collegiate and/or professional level, and several have international experience.
Allan Brown: Tennis Director; Allan is USPTA and USRSA certified, and has over 24 years of experience teaching tennis. He has been at CSGV since February 2002, and was promoted to Tennis Director in May of the same year. Allan comes to us from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, where he managed a private tennis club. He is a 1987 graduate of Oberlin College, where he captained and played #1 for the tennis team.
Michael James: Head Pro; Michael has been at the club since 1988, and has served in several different capacities, including Athletic Director. He is USPTA cerfitifed with over 25 years of teaching experience. Michael was born in Alabama and graduated from Auburn University. A top-ranked player in Nevada, he has a win over former tour player Pat DuPre.
Richie Mahlangu: Tennis Pro; Richie joined the staff in October 2002. He is USPTA certified with over 25 years of experience teaching tennis. He was born in South Africa and attended UNLV. He worked for the Austrian Tennis Federation and was personal coach to Horst Skoff.
Bob Schweid: Tennis Pro; Bob was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey. He began teaching tennis in 1980 and coached his High School Team to the Florida State Championships. He came to ClubSport in 2004 from Caesar's Palace where he was an Assistant Pro. He works with players at many levels, including ranked juniors and senior recreational players.
Sean Amberg: Tennis Pro; USPTA Certified Sean Amberg began playing tennis at the age of five. He graduated from the University of Oregon, went on to coach at Red Rock Country Club and moved on to coach at ClubSport in 2007. Sean has worked with numerous tennis pros, trained with Lindsay Deavenport, and earned a National Top 50 ranking as a junior.
Jason Wataru Sugai: Tennis Pro; Jason was born in Bangkok, Thailand and began playing tennis at the age of ten. He is USPTA certified, and has taught at the West End Racquet Club and the Stanford Tennis Academy. Jason has had great success playing tennis while attending school in California. He went on to attend the University of Hawaii before joining the ClubSport team in 2008.
Amanda Siegel: Tennis Pro; Amanda has over 15 years of experience teaching tennis, and has been at ClubSport since 2006. As a junior, she competed on the national level. Amanda played D1 tennis for the University of Arkansas and Long Beach State and graduated with a BA in International Business.
Ball Machine
Court #12, located in the Bubble, is the ball machine practice court. Reservations may be made up to five days in advance in 60 or 90-mintue increments at $10 or $14 per session. Monthly ball machine passes are available for $75. The pass holder may use the ball machine one hour per day, for one month.
The ball machine and ball cart will be on the court. Check in for ball machine reservations at the Tennis Desk. If you are unfamiliar with how to use the ball machine, please ask for instructions. At the end of your court time, all balls must be returned to the cart. Unreserved time on Court #12 will be opened up for singles play reservations on a same-day basis.
Tennis Court Policies
Please follow these policies and court etiquette guidelines when playing on ClubSport tennis courts:
- Only ClubSport tennis professionals are allowed to teach on ClubSport courts, with the exception of parents providing basic instruction to their children. No additional ball baskets are allowed on court unless you are with a family member or the Tennis Director has approved it in advance.
- No food, gum, or drinks (other than water in non-breakable containers) are allowed on the courts.
- Proper tennis attire and non-marking athletic shoes must be worn. No crop tops, aerobics attire, or jeans are allowed. Men must wear shirts; tank tops are unacceptable.
- Only tennis activities are allowed on the tennis courts. No other sports are permitted.
- Please be quiet when walking or waiting behind courts.
- When claiming a court, wait until the exiting players have finished a point or rally before entering.
- As a courtesy to players with a reservation following yours, please be ready to exit a court at the exact end of your reserved time.
- Do not enter adjacent courts (when in use) to retrieve stray balls. Wait until your neighboring players have finished a point, and then ask them to return your ball.
- Racquet abuse or other unsportsmanlike conduct is prohibited.
- ClubSport reserves the right to schedule programming (leagues, drop-ins, tournaments, team matches or practices, socials, camps, etc.) or private rentals on all indoor and outdoor courts. Open play courts may not be available at all times on all days.
