Kids Swimming
ClubSport is proud to host the Australian Swim School program offering swim lessons for all ages and abilities. As children progress in their skills, they graduate to "Baby Grads," "Tadpoles," "Learn to Swim," and "Swim Squads" classes. Private lessons are also available upon request. All lessons are held in our 88° indoor pool for the optimal comfort of our little swimmers.
Swim Program
Parent & Me (3 mos. – 3yrs.)
Self-esteem and social skills are developed here while learning the foundation of a relaxed and comfortable underwater swim. Emphasis is placed on movement, interaction and fun routines. Maximum of six parent-child couples per lesson.
Baby Grads students have the ability to swim and float with a sense of independence readying them for this small group of children. Stroke work and team work will be developed. 3:1 class ratio.
Tadpoles (Ages 3-5)
Progress is made through a series of three levels. Each level introduces new skills with a 4:1 class ratio.
- Guppy: Learn to float unassisted, glide off the wall on the back with little assistance and kick with chin tucked and eyes down.
- Super Frog: Learn to swim a relaxed, comfortable head down freestyle with straight-arm recovery, master an independent backstroke glide and kick, and master an unassisted turnaround swim at the wall.
- Platypus: Learn how to incorporate side breathing into the freestyle stroke, start to practice backstroke arms, and make an unassisted turnaround in the middle of the pool.
Learn To Swim (Ages 6-12)
These classes are similar to the Tadpoles program, but they are designed for school aged children. The six levels in this program are designed to make the swimmer efficient in freestyle and competent in backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. 5:1 class ratio.
- Sea Turtle: Learn to master an unassisted float to the wall, an assisted head down turnaround swim, gliding off the wall on the back and a propulsive kick on a noodle and two kickboards.
- Sea Horse: Learn to master streamlining skills, swim a head-down freestyle, an independent backstroke kick with straight-arm recovery and an unassisted turn-around swim to the wall.
- Sea Otter: Learn freestyle side breathing, backstroke arms and an unassisted turnover swim at the wall and in the middle of the pool.
- Manatee: Learn freestyle breathing to the non-preferred side, butterfly and breaststroke kicks, forward somersaults (beginning of a flip turn) and a beginning sit down dive.
- Orca: Learn unassisted forward somersaults from a swimming position, sit-down dives with correct commands, incorporate arms into the butterfly and breaststroke skills and refine freestyle skills.
- Barracuda: Barracudas learn bi-lateral freestyle breathing, freestyle flip-turns pushing off the wall, and incorporate breathing patterns into butterfly and breaststrokes.
Squad Skills & Swim Squads (Ages 6-12)
Squads are designed to further develop the technique of swimmers and introduce them to the element of competition. A team atmosphere of mutual support and enjoyment is promoted. 8:1 squad ratio.
