Jehn Kubiak

Jehn started teaching swim lessons at her college pool in 2016. Despite having no prior competitive training, her five rowdy brothers and videos of Olympic swimmers served as her “teachers.” She quickly realized that the pool was a stress-free comfort zone where she could expend excess energy, so it eventually became her second home. Jehn has taught private, semi-private, group, pre-competitive, and adaptive swim lessons for all ages at city pools and private swim schools all around Southern California. Whether you’re an adult who wants to overcome a fear of the water, a triathlete looking to refine their stroke technique or a parent of a child who’s learning to swim, Jehn’s can make those dreams turn into a reality. Her favorite motto is “persistent progress produces steady success,” as swimming skills often take time to build, yet are well worth the patient investment. Aside from teaching lessons, Jehn manages the seasonal lifeguarding team and oversees the lifeguard training courses.

Can I book a semi-private lesson with one child?

We require two people for a semi-private lesson. These participants can come from different families, but we don’t organize pairings ourselves.

Will I always have the same coach?

We are a small program and kids will generally swim with the same coach, however, as noted in the Program Agreement, instructors may occasionally change due to business needs.

What kind of training do the instructors have?

Our Aquatics Supervisor, who manages the program, has significant experience in teaching children and adults of all ages. Every instructor on our team holds a Water Safety Instructor certification from the American Red Cross, enabling them to teach ages ranging from 6 months to adults, including parent and child groups.

How do I know which level my child is at?

Please review the level descriptions listed on the kids’ swim page.

How often are the lessons?

We request a twice-weekly commitment, as it’s the best way to ensure your child’s progress if they can’t practice outside of class. This frequency also helps us maintain an optimal scheduling system for our program.

How many lessons will my child need?

Progress depends on several factors: past swimming experience, level of comfortability in the water, the child’s speed of learning, and whether there is an opportunity to practice skills outside of lessons. The overall goal for the child also plays a role; for example, a child who is anxious about getting their face wet may take more time to become comfortable in the water than a child who is ready to swim laps across the length of the pool. Typically, a beginner taking lessons for a couple of months will become familiar with swimming basics like arm and leg movement, breath control, and safety skills.

Are group swim lessons available?

We aim to offer higher-level group lessons (levels 3 and 4) this summer but won’t be holding lower-level group lessons (levels 1 and 2) this season.

Do I need to be present at my child's lesson?

Yes, we require parents to remain in the pool area for safety reasons.

Are there discounts for members?

At this time, we are not offering any discounts.

Can I cancel my lessons, if needed?

Cancellations must be made 30 days prior to the next billing period.

What if I need to cancel a specific lesson?

Lesson cancellations for unforeseen absences such as illness, must be made at least 24 hours in advance. Missed sessions won’t be refunded but will instead receive a makeup session credit. The same policy applies to sessions missed due to inclement weather or pool closures.

How will I be billed?

We can bill directly to your membership account, via a credit card, or a check payment. Monthly packages will be billed at the beginning of each month; those paying by session will be billed after each individual session.
